Aya is a designer and strategic thinker who currently finds herself in pursuit of an MFA in Transdisciplinary Design at Parsons The New School for Design in NYC. In her design work and life, Aya is most passionate about empathy and its impact on social responsibility, storytelling, and the poetics of everyday life.
Some years ago, she received a Bachelors of Design Honours from the York University and Sheridan College joint program in design in Toronto (YSDN), as well as a Diploma in Fine Arts. Aya has been incredibly fortunate to have lived and worked in Baghdad, Abu Dhabi, Toronto, Boston, New York, and San Francisco.
When not thinking about how design can negotiate and facilitate change in our world, Aya indulges in illustration, painting, paper loving, notebook hoarding, reading, and world traveling.
