Provocateur Talk + Reception with Soon Yu

Making innovation successful starts and ends with people. At VF, the challenge is to motivate 60,000 people to innovate together but with the diversity of over 30 brands & cultures (such as The North Face, Wrangler, Timberland, Nautica and Vans), finding a common innovation vision, language and action step(s) can be daunting.

Leveraging best practices from Design Thinking and the best selling book “Switch – How to Make Change Happen When Change is Hard”, VF has developed a program to direct the “rider” (the analytical side) and motivate the “elephant” (the emotional side) to help us win with innovation.
This session will discuss the challenges faced, mistakes made and wins celebrated when transitioning VF into a company that is open, collaborative and future thinking.

Former Global Vice President of Innovation of VF Corporation,Soon Yu, will be delivering a talk on Motivating a Culture of Innovation at VF Corporation.

Soon Yu served as the Global VP of Innovation at VF Corporation – parent organization to over 30 well known apparel companies, including The North Face, Vans, Timberland, Seven for All Mankind and Wrangler – until September 2016. Yu had responsibility to strengthen VF’s overall innovation capabilities and support VF’s portfolio of brands in their innovation efforts. His responsibilities included brining new innovation best practices to VF, helping strengthen innovation processes, supporting the effort to strengthen the innovation culture, helping to develop new platforms for innovation, and creating stronger internal and external networks to drive and spread new ideas and solutions.
