Film Screening: After Coal

The Tishman Environment and Design Center is hosting a film screening for the movie After Coal on Monday October 3rd, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at The New School University Center – 63 5th Ave, Room UL105.

What happens when fossil fuels run out? How do communities and cultures survive? Director Tom Hansell explores the economic impacts of the push for sustainable energy in his film, After Coal.

 

Featuring profiles of inspiring individuals who are building a new future in the coalfields of eastern Kentucky and South Wales, this hour-long documentary invites viewers to the front lines of the transition away from fossil fuels. Coalfield residents who must abandon traditional livelihoods share stories about life after coal.

 

Comments and a Q&A with the film’s director Tom Hansel and Ana Baptista, Associate Director of the Tishman Environment and Design Center and Robert Gipe, Director of Higher Ground, will follow the screening.

 

Hosted by the Tishman Environment and Design Center and the Milano School of International Affairs, Management, and Urban Policy at The New School.
