Explorean is an immersive game-based investment platform designed for young investors. Players engage in a relatable city builder game while also having the opportunity to invest in public companies listed on the stock exchange. The game mechanics serve as a guide for investors, fostering transformative investor temperaments necessary for long-term investment towards combating climate change.

Our research addresses two fundamental aspects. Firstly, we discovered that there are various barriers associated with getting started in investing, including a lack of financial literacy, overconfidence, and generational differences in money management experiences, all of which hinder confidence in investment decisions. Secondly, we identified a lack of transformative potential in current investment behavior. Most investors are primarily driven by profit and financial gain, often neglecting the societal implications of their investments and investing without conscious consideration of the power they hold.

Explorean provides a unique opportunity for young investors to gain the confidence needed to start investing early while transforming the motivations behind investment decisions. By combining monetary gain with societal good, Explorean aligns investments with impactful causes, enabling investors to make a positive difference through their financial choices.

The purpose of our project is to bridge the gap between Generation Z and investing. Explorean equips young investors with the necessary mindsets and support to become informed and responsible investors who actively contribute to impact spaces aligned with their values. By engaging with Explorean, Gen Z can develop the skills and knowledge needed to make informed investment decisions and become better investors in the future.

The potential impact of this project is tremendous. In 30 years, Explorean could redirect capital away from companies like Facebook and Google, which do not contribute positively to climate change, and instead channel it into companies focused on creating societal, environmental, and global impact. By empowering young investors and influencing their investment choices, Explorean has the power to shape a future where financial resources are directed towards causes that drive positive change in the world.
