Hidden Value of Sawdust 2024

June 12, 2024

My project aims to tackle the issue of wood waste generated by small businesses and individual woodworkers, specifically the challenge of repurposing sawdust which accounts for half of their wood waste.

I saw an opportunity to prolong the use of sawdust and created a versatile and natural sawdust mixture that can be used to create a variety of objects or products. My end solution challenges the concept of waste by creatively and affordably repurposing sawdust into functional and beautiful objects, thereby creating something valuable.

Impact: This project has a significant Environmental Impact as it reduces the amount of wood waste that ends up in landfills, thus reducing greenhouse gas emissions and promoting a more sustainable future. By repurposing sawdust into value, my project also reduces the demand for virgin materials, contributing to preserving natural resources.

From the Social Impact perspective, my project raises awareness about the importance of sawdust management, fosters a conversation about the hidden potential of waste, and encourages businesses and individuals to take action toward efficient sawdust management, thus promoting a more sustainable future.

My project also has an Economic Impact as it provides an affordable and sustainable solution for small businesses and individual woodworkers to manage their wood waste efficiently. It also contributes to the circular economy, generating economic benefits for the industry.
