Beans: Improving Trust in Hybrid Work Place Teams 2023
Our project addresses the challenges and opportunities presented by the hybrid work model. We identified that while hybrid work offers flexibility and efficiency, it falls short on effective communication and informal interactions through digital channels that are crucial for connection and belonging among employees. This lack of connection negatively impacts productivity, satisfaction, retention rates, therefore, companies lose billions annually.
The main innovation we identified is the integration of micro transactions for gift sharing and thank you notes through an app called Beans. Our solution aims to facilitate interpersonal relationships in a hybrid workplace by providing employees with a platform to send and receive small gifts and personalized notes. The app is designed to be user-friendly and bottom-up, and includes features such as easy and autonomous budgeting, shared experiences, and smart suggestions for gift-giving.
The purpose of our project is to improve trust and better implement the hybrid work model. By enabling employees to engage in small acts of kindness and appreciation, Beans fosters a sense of connection and belonging. The app allows employees to create and join events, review the history of their interactions, and get to know their coworkers better.
If successfully implemented, this project would have a significant impact on the workplace. It would rebuild a sense of belonging and improve management, engagement, and connection among employees. The personalized cards and smart suggestions would encourage equitable acknowledgement of colleagues, and important employee events could be celebrated. Ultimately, Beans aims to enhance trust within hybrid teams, leading employee wellbeing.
