May Day Picnic in Prospect Park
We wish you a happy May Day in advance!
We hope you can join our NO-WASTE PICNIC to celebrate this day of importance for the solidarity of all good people in the world. This event is open to all MS SDM students, faculty, and alumni.
About May Day
In October 1884, a convention held by the Federation of Organized Trades and Labor Unions (today’s AFL) unanimously set May 1, 1886, as the date by which the eight-hour workday would become standard. They sang their songs and made it happen:
Eight hours we’d have for working;
eight hours we’d have for play;
Eight hours we’d have for sleeping
in free Amerikay.
Amerikay still ain’t free for many.
