BARCELONA: The Transition from Grassroots Activism to Government. A Conversation with filmmaker Pau Faus and activist Rob Robinson
Theories of Urban Practice Seminars will host Pau Faus, a visual artist and documentary filmmaker and NYC-based activist Rob Robinson. Their discussion will be around Pau Faus’ latest documentary Ada for Mayor about Barcelona’s activist Mayor Ada Colau’s one year, from her time spent organizing the anti-eviction fight in Barcelona to the day she is sworn-in as its Mayor. The importance of the work and both Pau and Rob’s conversation is related to Barcelona’s experience in providing a new citizen platform, a historic victory illustrative of the political changes taking place in Southern Europe. As both of the urban programs (MA TUP and MSc DUE) are focusing on various forms of activism and how these actions can be translated into democratic ways of representation, Barcelona’s example is very crucial to discuss particularly very relevant for the current political climate.
