The course schedule’s organization and selection of lecturers, reading and assignments has designed as both course guide and design rubric or tool through which you can develop over the semester a multi-dimensional and inter disciplinary picture of urban practice and ecological projection based on radical consultancies, reading and producing an urban society for “La Cite”. They are:

1. Delve into the realities of practice by professionals and citizens seeking to work inside these disturbances through engaging with guest lecturers, readings and case study analysis exploring the three disturbance zones–inescapable urban ecologies, making urban society, and internet of urban people.

2. To learn to use the four systems outlined in “Urbanizing Ecologies” as a design tool to translate the social economic and ecological forces of the disturbance working zones into physical, public and political action project programs and strategies. The systems are:

D: Oikos and Des broulliard,
C: Political and Inhabited Landscapes,
B: Interface and intermediaries, and
A: Circulating knowledge and Working Public bodies.

3. To picture individual and collective narrative of observations and suggestions for “La Cite “ of possible urban practice and design urban ecology propositions through individual weekly assignments, three collaborative group workshop/assignments and the final individual production of a poster using the course rubric organization to reflect on the knowledge collected from the semester for future use.

4. To draw out and narrate these complex “wicked” urban societal and ecological zones through use of a tool called a ZWICKY box, to foreground the design and operative terms of engagement.
