The REAL Collaboration Symposium that occurred on May 7th was the inaugural event and forum to learn about and share project ideas and tools fostering instructional change. We know successful school change requires that teachers be engaged, build understandings together, and have a large enough critical mass to help their schools realize new shared visions. We look forward to a continued support of teachers in mastering new, effective pedagogies and to help public schools adapt and adopt changed teaching practices to provide students with skills for a 21st century “knowledge economy”, including creativity and innovation, critical thinking and problem solving, and communication and collaboration. With our participants, we endeavor to develop models of flexible, lateral, inquiry-based thinking across disciplines. This workshop was the first in what we hope will be a series of initiatives to pilot new pedagogic practices through cross disciplinary lenses to promote whole school change in public schools. A big thank you to all those that attended! Stay tuned for a follow-up message!
