On July 8th fourteen Parsons The New School for Design students completed an eleven day International Intensive Program at IUAV in Venice, Italy. The students were from four programs: M Arch, MS Design and Urban Ecologies, MA Theories of Urban Practice and MFA Transdisciplinary Design. Students from TU Delft, UPC Barcelona, KU Leuven, and IUAV Venice joined them. The theme of the workshop was Urbs in Horto and was dedicated to the recycling of the city and the territory according to the themes life cycle, embodied energy, and inclusion. In addition newer themes emerged such as differences between the metabolism of urban tissues, the production of residential urban sprawl and their adaptation and recycling in the urban and territorial scale. The students worked in groups and collectively created five projects using large physical models that involved large environmental and energy infrastructure and a radical position of reuse in the central area of the Veneto that is characterized by widespread urbanization.
