Olivia Paonita, a native New Yorker, uses “design as a way to create interventions that could have a profound impact on everyday living conditions.” Having previously studied International Development for two years at McGill University in Montreal, Canada, she transferred to the Urban Design (BS) program at Parsons in order to find ways to use design at different scales, “from graphic design campaigns to large-scale planning approaches.” The Urban Studios are great, she says, because you  are “given a chance to troubleshoot and problem solve, and see how design interventions… could impact a city or neighborhood.”

“I am interested in using design as a way to create spaces for people to engage, and like to focus on smaller-scale interventions which leave room for communities to affect the project’s course and ultimate outcome.”
