Dr. Vera Tangari is a community activist, architect and urbanist, and a professor and reseacher at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. Dr. Tangari and her colleagues will present four fascinating case studies from Brazil of research as a mode of practice. These multiscalar case studies include, at the regional scale: the impact analysis of the Rio de Janeiro Metropolitan Ring Road Project, at the metropolitan scale: the São Cristóvão District Open Spaces and Green Areas Integrated Plan; at the urban scale: the Campos do Jordão Railway Park; and at the local scale: the re-urbanization plan for Rocinha favela in Rio de Janeiro.
