We previously told you about Dear Primo, a children’s book published by alumnus Duncan Tonatiuh (IDP ’08). In recent weeks, this book which Duncan wrote and illustrated received four awards.
- A Pura Belpre honorable mention for the best illustrations in a children’s book published in 2010 that affirms and celebrates the Latino cultural experience. The American Library Association presents the award.
- It was also named a Notable Children’s Book by the Association for Library Service to Children.
- It was named one of the best children’s books of 2010 by Kirkus Reviews. You can read the complete list here and here is the review of Dear Primo.
- It has also been designated as a Chicago Public Library Best of the Best Book of 2011.
